We recommend travelling in a camper van to Milford as the main car park is opened up for overnight camping in peak periods allowing for freedom camping if the Milford Sound lodge is full. There is a small charge for this.
The Milford Lodge has private rooms, backpacker style dorm rooms and campervan parking sites available. Full facilities including self catering kitchen, cafe and restaurant. We recommend booking as early as possible as this is a popular place.
Real Journeys offer overnight accommodation on some of their boats. Both private and shared quarters are available with dinner and breakfast. The boats leave between 3:30pm and 4:30pm which aligns with our trip times.
The Mitre Peak Hotel may have accommodation available. This option is potentially available on short notice as their rooms are generally reserved for hiking tour clients. This option can be explored a few days before your arrival by personally calling 03-249 7907. You will not be able to book this more than a few days in advance.
Tracknet transport provide transport from Queenstown to Te Anau and Te Anau to Milford Sound. The tracknet bus leaves Te Anau at 7:15am and arrives in Milford Sound at 9:15am which is fine for our trip meeting time.
